Grace Durnford received her BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design where she concentrated in Textile Design. Intricacy and precision are both hallmarks of her work which spans a variety of mediums including paint, colored pencil, chalk pastel, as well as various types of thread and embroidery floss. Using a distinct visual language that relies heavily on delicate lines of varying weight to emphasizes form and outline she has created multiple distinct series of work made up of everything from sewn cityscapes, to fanciful lace-like pen and ink patterns, photo-realistic colored pencil drawings and, most recently, a collection of carefully embroidered animal skulls on 24k gilded canvas. Her work has been shown both in NYC and in across the Boston Metro area.

When not working on her art she can be found obsessively doodling patterns on any blank surface within reach, collecting animal bones, and supporting her local pub(s).

She currently lives and works in Cambridge MA.
